Artist bios

TARA DEMMY is a Philadelphia-based comedian, theater artist, and teacher. She has trained in comedic improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade NYC and Philly Improv Theater. Tara completed her Lecoq movement-based theater training at Helikos: International School of Theater Creation in Florence, Italy. She currently teaches at Arden Theatre Company, St. Peter’s School, and Philly Improv Theater. She is a proud company member of Tribe of Fools where she most recently performed in Fishtown – A Hipster Noir in the 2017 Fringe Festival.  She recently completed her masters in theater at Villanova University where she performed in Mr .Burns: a post-electric play (Jenny) and Much Ado About Nothing (Verges). tarademmy.com.

MARISSA KENNEDY very recently graduated with her MA in Theatre from Villanova University. Her graduate thesis project was an original solo performance piece entitled Out of the Shadows . She has earned her BA from Oberlin College in English Literature and has performed in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Hawaii. Her favorite roles include Intimate Apparel (Mrs. Dickson) at Villanova University, Disney’s Mary Poppins (Mrs. Corry) at Hawaii Children’s Theatre; Much Ado About Nothing (Dogberry) at Collingswood Shakespeare Company and Macbeth (Weird Sister) at Oberlin College Theater.

.Josh McIlvain _ Nice and FreshJosh McIlvain is a Philadelphia-based playwright and theater artist. He founded the Nice and Fresh series in 2013, curates the series, and writes and directs a new work of theater for each show. He is also the artistic director of Automatic Arts, formerly SmokeyScout Productions, which he founded with Deborah Crocker in 2008;  the company addition runs the Nice and Fresh series or new works of performing arts and produces shows written and directed by Josh, and collaborations with other artists. His solo show SLIDESHOW, which he created and performed out of found slides, has garnered critical praise; and continues to be performed periodically. Additionally, he has had more than 115 productions of some 70 plays throughout the U.S., including more than 38 New York City productions. He lives in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia with his wife Deborah Crocker and children Jasper and Ginger.

Nik Menotiades just received his Master’s degree in Theatre from Villanova University.  Nik earned his BA from The Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University, Pittsburgh.  Nik spent nine years in Los Angeles working with various theater companies. Credits include Cartoon (Trouble), The Grapes of Wrath (Tom Joad), One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Martini), The Dog in the Manger (Fabio), Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Elvis), La Cage Aux Folles (Jacob), The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Roma), and more.  Pennsylvania credits include Red, White, and Tuna (Arles etc.) and Buried Child (Vince).  Nik has performed in several PA Lottery commercials, and has been a co-star on the TV shows Weeds, Political Animals, and House of Cards.
