Megan Mazarick
Dancer / Choreographer
Megan Mazarick is a Philadelphia choreographer, performer, teacher, and mom. She often works with imaginative physical scores to collage movement, theater, and text. Her current interests are in the intersection of entertainment and abstraction in performance. Her work has been presented internationally (Singapore, Bulgaria, Egypt, Poland, Australia, Hungary, and Mexico) and throughout the USA. Her choreography has been supported by the US Embassy in Singapore, the US Embassy in Bulgaria, and the US Embassy in Egypt. As a performer, she has worked with David Gordon, Susan Rethorst, Keith Thompson, Marianela Boan, Merian Soto, Anonymous Bodies, Black Box Dance Theater, and members of Lower Left. Megan has taught technique, improvisation, and composition classes at studios, festivals, and universities around the globe. She is an Assistant Professor at Georgian Court University.
Luisa Colón
Writer / Artist
Born and raised in New York City, Luisa began her career as a journalist in the late 90s; her work has appeared in numerous print and online publications such as New York, Latina, USA Today, The New York Times, and many more. Her first novel, BAD MOON RISING, was published in August 2023 by Cemetery Dance Publications. Luisa’s other creative work includes illustration, two murals currently displayed at the World Trade Center, and her comic series “The Mizerable Misadventures of Morrissey & I,” currently featured in Creem magazine. Inspired by her fascination with the cinema, Luisa also made a brief but successful foray into acting, starring in the award-winning 2006 indie film Day Night Day Night as well as the titular role in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 2007 short film Anna.
John Rosenberg
Writer
John Rosenberg runs Hella Fresh Theater in Kensington. He grew up in Los Angeles but moved to Philadelphia. He has also shown numerous one act plays in the Nice and Fresh series presented by Automatic Arts. He is so grateful for the support of his friends and his family. His new play Osceola runs February 8 to March 1 at the Papermill, 2825 Ormes St, Philadelphia, also part of Philly Theatre Week.
Homer Robinson
Actor
Homer Robinson worked as a journalist and filmmaker before going to law school, after which he practiced as a public defender and non-profit lobbyist—all jobs which made good use of his undergraduate theater degree. He previous worked with Automatic Arts in 2019 in PURE MEDEA. He lives in Mt. Airy with his wife Lisa and their two sons, Theo and Felix.
Effie Kammer
Actor
Effie Kammer was born in Switzerland, raised in NYC, and moved to Philadelphia almost ten years ago. She has an MA in Theater at Villanova University. Previously, she studied with Esther Brandice at Actor’s Advent and at The Actor’s Center. She is the artistic director and founder of The Kammerspiel, a theater company that creates commercially non-viable productions that are subversive and sublime. Her recent roles in include Solange in The Maids. Titania in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Feste in Twelfth Night at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Caroline in Detroit ’67 at The Stagecrafters Theater, and Hamlet in Hamlet at the Society Hill Playhouse. Her one-woman show, The Box, in collaboration with Bob Sloan, premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival.
Deborah Crocker
Actor
Deborah Crocker was last seen as Claire in The Kammerspiel/Automatic Arts 2023 production The Maids. Previously she performed Josh McIlvain’s The Beauty of the Program Is….Professional dance credits include Ballet Hispanico, Donald Byrd the Group, Chet Walker’s Ensemble, and Martha Graham Dance II. She performed internationally and at The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Jacob’s Pillow. Her theater credits include the National Tour of A Chorus Line and Man of La Mancha at the Goodspeed Opera House. A graduate of SUNY Purchase College, Deborah studied acting with Lee Brock and Seth Barish at the Barrow Group.
Laura Sukonick
Actor
has been a practicing psychotherapist for about a decade, and has enjoyed her on-again-off-again hobby of acting along the way. The obvious highlights of this have been playing roles masterfully written and directed by Philly (fuck LA) playwright, John Rosenberg: Hannah in Hannah, Laura in Cana of Galilee, Leigh in Autopia and Ariel in Low Cost Mules. Laura is a fan and groupie of Josh’s plays and one acts, and has been unabashedly trying to get cast in one since 2012, when she starred in his one act play, Basement.
Caleb Cliff
Composer
Much of Caleb’s life has in one way or another pointed back to music. He studied music composition in CAPA HS (Pittsburgh) and at Bard College. Since then he has had the opportunity to compose music for a wide array of projects including short films, promotions, and a few of the more experimental variety. To him, sound is a spectacular medium in which to promote greater modes of change – on both mundane and spiritual levels. It transcends all of life and therefore, gracefully assists in the experience of living. Caleb has also studied Ayurveda and Sound Healing, is a long-time visual artist and spends as much time as he can in the woods and on or near bicycles.
Josh McIlvain

Josh McIlvain is a Philadelphia-based playwright, director and producer. He is the artistic director of Automatic Arts (automaticartsco.com), which he founded with Deborah Crocker in 2008, and has been writing and directing for the company ever since, along with creating collaborations with other artists. He founded the Nice and Fresh presentation series of new works of theater and dance. In addition to the Nice and Fresh series, the company produces shows written and directed by Josh and collaborations with other artists. Most recently, he directed Genet’s The Maid in a co-production with The Kammerspiel. His plays (shorts, one acts, and full lengths) have been produced throughout the U.S. He lives in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia with his wife Deborah Crocker and children Jasper and Ginger. He both plays and is the songwriter for the band Casual Fantastic.
David Burgess (Host) recently starred as Madame in the 2023 Kammerspiel/Automatic Arts production of Genet’s The Maids. A 2021 Villanova MA in Theatre alumnus, he appeared in Villanova Theatre’s production Curtains and SLAPHAPPY: A Covid-Era Commedia and Songs for a New World. He earned his BS in Computer Science with a minor in Music from West Chester University. While he worked as an Audio-Visual Technician and IT Helpdesk Technician at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from 2004-2013, David performed in a comedic drag troupe, The Dumpsta Players, as his alter ego, Amanda Playwythe. He has studied sketch writing and improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC as well as completing the Improv Program at Philly Improv Theatre. He formerly served on the board of Beacon Theatre Productions where he appeared as C. S. Lewis in Freud’s Last Session and Arthur Conan Doyle in Red Letter Locker. |
